Context

One of the World's Greatest Cultural Events. One of Its Biggest Footprints.

Mardi Gras is a defining cultural and economic engine for New Orleans and the broader Gulf South. It draws over a million visitors, generates more than a billion dollars in economic activity, and produces over two million pounds of waste—every single year.

The environmental complexity of Carnival season is real: dense crowds, temporary infrastructure, logistics at scale, and visitor behavior that's hard to shift. But that complexity is also an opportunity. Solutions that work during Mardi Gras work anywhere.

The Mardi Gras Innovation Challenge turns that challenge into a launchpad.

1M+

$1B+

2M+
