FINANCIAL DIRECTOR JOB OPPORTUNITY

The Idea Village is hiring a smart, proactive, can-do-anything Financial Director. The Financial Director will join The Idea Village Executive team, reporting to the CEO and overseeing all financial responsibilities of the organization.  The selected individual will have tremendous exposure to entrepreneurship, business development, marketing and economic revitalization in New Orleans.   The Financial Director will also gain extensive local and national contacts within the business, education, civic and not-for-profit sectors

JOB DESCRIPTION - Primary responsibilities include:

  • Joining The Idea Village Executive Team- Driving and accelerate The Idea Village mission.
  • Budget Management - Overseeing an annual operating budget in excess of $1,000,000, supervising resource allocation, financial accountability, back-end reporting, management of multiple streams of money.
  • Controllership - Accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and CPA relationship management.
  • TreasuryCapital management, negotiating terms for products and services on behalf of the organization, employee benefits management, financial policies and procedures, grant management and management of annual review process.
  • Financial Management  - Issuing weekly/monthly financial reports for Executive Staff and Board of Directors Finance Committee, preparing & leading quarterly Finance Committee meetings, building scenarios for new initiatives under consideration, including negotiating terms with candidate partners and coordination of all required reporting to revenue partners.
  • Information Systems - Management of information systems, including hardware, software, and other purchased services.
  • Business Consulting - Provide financial management analysis and expertise to client entrepreneurs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS – The Idea Village Financial Director must exhibit the following attributes:

  • Ability to delegate tasks, work as a member of a team and assume responsibility as a leader
  • Financial, operational and technical experience
  • Self-starter who makes opportunities happen
  • Strong enthusiasm and desire to participate in the living history of the reinvention of New Orleans
  • Hardworking and dynamic personality
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage time efficiently

Experience: Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in business, finance, consulting or a related field.  A four year college degree from an accredited college or university is required. 

Salary: The Idea Village offers a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience.
