THE OPPORTUNITY:
Are you a seasoned entrepreneur between ventures, jobs or just looking for a change-of-pace in your career path? A professional sabbatical to sharpen your entrepreneurial skills in New Orleans?

The Idea Village is hiring up to 5 experienced, ambitious, and adaptable Entrepreneurs-In-Residence (EIRs). Each EIR will spend six fast-paced, action-oriented months supporting the development of a portfolio of high-growth New Orleans start-up ventures. Each will partner with specific entrepreneurs and become an integral part of each venture’s start-up team in an effort to meet key milestones and position the venture for funding and sustainable growth.

THE JOB:

  • An active management role in some or all areas of developing a successful company, including:
    • Financial planning and management
    • Operational planning
    • Staffing strategy
    • Sales strategy
    • Market research and analysis
    • Business plan development
    • Management
  • Assess and refine venture’s business plan
  • Develop and implement action plan to achieve venture’s strategic goals
  • Develop and implement funding/investment strategy
  • Work with The Idea Village Team to grow and expand the Entrepreneur Challenge program

EIRs will work with a small cohort of entrepreneurs in one of three areas of focus defined as:

  • Distribution: Experience launching consumer products into various channels, including retail, wholesale, etc.
  • Brand Positioning and Growth Strategy: Track record of launching brand extension/repositioning strategy
  • Technology: Experience launching tech company from concept to execution, including development of pricing, expansion, and distribution strategies

THE HIRE:
The Idea Village is interested in tested entrepreneurs who demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in starting high-growth entrepreneurial ventures
  • Track record of securing private capital
  • Desire to coach, mentor and advise entrepreneurs
  • Ability to work well with The Idea Village team
  • Passion for building the New Orleans entrepreneurial community

The Idea Village is a 501(c) (3) economic development organization founded in 2000 with the mission to identify, support and retain entrepreneurial talent in the New Orleans Region. To date, The Idea Village has supported over 260 entrepreneurs. The Idea Village has recently launched its first annual Entrepreneur Challenge to drive economic growth in New Orleans. This program offers access to a diverse resource pool of business experts, professional service providers, MBA students, investors and corporate volunteers to accelerate business growth.
